What Is Required For Your Notarization
The person requesting the notarization must personally appear before the Notary at the time of the notarization.
The Notary must be able to communicate directly with the individual for whom a Notary act is being performed and in a language they both understand.
Identifying the Document Signer
In notarizing any signature, Florida law requires the Notary to positively identify the document signer. The typical form of identification is a government issued photo ID, The most common being a drivers license. Additionally, the notary needs to confirm the willingness of the signer to sign of their own free will and make every effort to confirm that the signer is aware of what is taking place. All this while the signer is in the physical presents of the notary or online.
Please be advised that as a notary, legal advice, interpretation of the documents content or helping prepare your documents cannot be provided. Consult with a legal professional, attorney, financial advisor or CPA for your legal questions. Make sure all blanks in your documents are filled out otherwise it's an Incomplete Document. Blank areas of a document must be filled in by the signer and may potentially lead to fraud and cause legal or recording issues. As a consequence, an incomplete document may cause the notary from being unable to complete the notarization.
What About a Witness
Some documents being notarized may require witnesses. Depending on the document type it may be just one witness or could be two witnesses. If your document requires witnesses, its best to ask an impartial friend or neighbor to be a witness. If you have no witnesses available, part of our In-depth Notary Services may include the option of supplying a third party witness. Call and inquire about witness services.
